discovering the henty wine region....

With comments, and accolades from prominent wine writers, like "The exemplary wines are to be found on a thoroughly impressive collection of Victoria's top restaurant wine lists", listings in the "Best of the best by variety", in top 100 wine lists, and trophy winners of national wine shows, it's no wonder the HENTY WINE REGION of South West Victoria is catching the attention of wine lovers around the world.

Nestled in the far south west corner of Victoria between the Hopkins river, Warrnambool in the east, the South Australian border its western boundary and the Glenelg river in Harrow forming its most northern boundary, it is a large geographical region varying from the coastal dunes through the volcanic plains to red gum dotted grazing country south of the Grampians ranges.

The stretch along the Henty Highway between Hamilton and Portland is the main vineyard area within the region, with most vineyards dotted around Hamilton and Heywood. The Region has 25 vineyards, which includes 12 wineries, 6 of which offer cellar door facilities.

Numerous restaurants and retail outlets represent the wineries and functions are held throughout the Region to promote the area’s wine.
